About Us

The Blue Potato Company is start-up business by Sean Lumley the son of a small farming family with a passion for potatoes. The family farm is based near Ely in the Cambridgeshire fens and grows conventional cereals, sugar beet, potatoes and onions.

We started to become disappointed in some of the flavours of the commercial potatoes that we were growing, and after looking into the history of the potato crop it seemed sad that so many interesting potatoes were either not making it to market, or were disappearing from the market.

This led us to grow a small area (2.2 acres) of specialist, Heritage, Coloured and Salad varieties based on their unique attributes, eating characteristics and the ability of them to be produced successfully.
